TrueBlood Empty TrueBlood

Vamp/Supernatural series based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. I just rented all the Season 1 DVDs, and now I'm hooked. Unfortunately, it's only on HBO and Season 2 started like 2-3 weeks ago, and I'm 30 in line at the library to get the first book of the series as well!! AURGH!!! So Many Addictions!!! So little time & money!!!

The main character, Sookie Stackhouse, is played by Anna Paquin of X-Men (Rogue) movie fame. Sookie is a telepathic cocktail waitress in the fictional small town of Bon Temps, LA.
The Japanese have invented viable synthetic blood that is easy to mass produce. The vampires have then made their presence known to the world, and most try to go "Mainstream" and live with humans.
The main focus is of course on vampires, but there are also shape-shifters, werewolves, witches, and I'm sure many other supernatural types to come.

Being an HBO show, there is gratuitous T&A as well (read - Anna Paquin naked!)

And the Lafayette character just cracks me the frak up!

Well, I've added the DVDs to my netflix queue, which means I should be getting them sometime around ... hm. When is the next olympics? Razz

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure about this because it came out around the same time as Twilight, and I even gave up on Buffy because Twilight took such a big crap on vamplore for me. I think I'm willing to give it a chance though.

It's not like Twilight. Vamps actually go all "Crispy Critter" in the sun, and they are powerless against and able to be damaged by silver.

Don't forget to check out the Speacial features on Disk 5! Hilarious "commercials" for True Blood and Vamp services like a Vamp Hotel, and Vamp dating service (al a E-Harmony)

I'd watch it just for that... but I haven't seen it and probably won't. Not much TV time for me.

Honestly, I'm not just against sparkling vampires but I'm also against good-guy vampires. Buffy just explained it away in the two cases it happened (and it was different things both times lol).

I'm a bit of a classicist when it comes to my vampires: I want them to be bastard-coated bastards with bastard filling. The bastardier the better! Razz

Then you will love the Eric character and the Inquisitor character, and maybe even the Trio nest. Bill is half an half.

That has to be one of the best (couple of) sentences ever.

I broke down and bought the first 7 books of the series from Amazon.com yesterday morning, and Leslie let me borrow her copies of books 8 & 9, so I think I'm going to be doing a lot of reading.
