I got a free ticket to a pre-release viewing for last night.
There is lots of good visual eye-candy, and a very poignant story. Not what I expected from the trailers at all. It invoked a lot of strong emotional responses. There were a few moments of "Now wait just a minute! Why the heck did/didn't they do such and such?!?!" And it was kinda hard to understand what people were saying because it is filmed in Johanesburg, South Africa (they used a lot of subtitles for the humans as well as the aliens.) I also liked the ending. Good closure, but enough room to make a sequel if wanted.

Lol we saw it instead of GI Joe. Liz was on the edge of her seat mostly the whole time.
