Closer Look At Abrams-Verse Trek Ships
Over at Astris-Scientia-org...er,uh...look under Starfleet Starship Designs and then look for the one with that frakkin Latin mumbo-jumbo. Once there look for the Star Trek XI Updated topic. Scroll down and examine the other Starfleet vessels...er, uh...wessels from the Abrams reboot film. These other Starfleet vessels show some measure of consistancy in sharing elements seen in the USS Kelvin. So that also establishes the idea that the USS Enterprise is indeed a new generation of ship in the Abrams-verse. Prior to Enterprise and any sisters Starfleet was using ships with Kelvin-like warp nacelles/saucer hulls. Also it seems that really cool Miranda Class roll bar seen on the Prime-verse USS Reliant is found on many Abrams-verse ships. There are some nice still shots from the reboot that allow one to take a closer look at these other ships. The shot is from the sequence in which a Starfleet taskforce is sent to aide Vulcan. Another source (American Cinematographer magazine) has another still photo of another Abrams-verse Starfleet ship. That particular ship's configuration is sporting two Kelvin-like secondary hulls. Perhaps an assault carrier analogue? Or perhaps a frigate. I think that particular ship might be the USS Truman. ,
